During the first quarter of 2014, production of paper and paperboard as well as production of pulp fell by 5.5 percent respective by 2.4 percent when compared to the same quarter of 2013, according to the Swedish Forest Agency.
Production of paper and paperboard fell by 5.5 percent to 2.7 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2014 compared with the same quarter in 2013. Production of newsprint continues to decrease and fell by 26.9 percent during this period. Printing and writing paper fell by 6.2 percent, while there was a slight increase by 1.1 percent in the production of other paper and paperboard grades.
Production of wood pulp decreased by 2.4 percent to 2.9 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2014 compared to with the same quarter 2013. Production of sulphate pulp which is the largest grade increased by 1 percent in the first quarter of 2014 compared with the same quarter 2013.
