Few women in top positions in the Nordic paper industry

The overwhelming majority of the management teams of twelve Nordic forest industry companies are men. There are 90 men out of 110 members, thus only 20 women. These are the findings of a study published in the April issue of Nordic Paper Journal.

At four of the twelve companies reviewed - Stora Enso, Norske Skog, Rottneros and Nordic Paper - the management team didn’t include a single woman. There are also few women on the boards of these companies, says Nordic Paper Journal. The boards of the twelve companies at the time of going to press consisted of 93 men and 20 women. The ratio implies no significant change since the first time Nordic Paper Journal did such a survey in 2006.

One company that stands out is Södra. Södra’s management team consists of 14 people, eight men and six women at the time of going to press. “Södra is therefore in a class of its own” says Nordic Paper Journal.
