US printing-writing paper shipments down 14% in October

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) has published the October 2025 Printing-Writing Monthly report. The report says that total printing-writing paper shipments decreased 14% in October compared to October 2024.

Total printing-writing paper inventory levels decreased 2% when compared to September 2025.

Across the three major printing-writing categories — uncoated free sheet (UFS), coated free sheet (CFS), and mechanical (MECH) — shipments decreased at similar rates. MECH experienced the steepest drop, while UFS and CFS fell in line with the overall printing-writing decline.
