The Finnish company Caverion has signed a contract with Swedish Södra Cell AB on the delivery of process piping and insulation of pipe bridges together with steam piping for the Södra Cell pulp mill in Värö, Sweden. The installation will begin in March 2015 and will be completed by April 2016. The value of the contract is not disclosed.
The process piping delivery includes the design and prefabrication of the pipe elements for new pipe bridges as well as installation and insulation of the piping. The total length of the pipe bridges is 1.3 kilometres. Project execution employs approximately 15 people from Caverion, and the work is carried out as cooperation between Caverion’s Finnish and Swedish units.
The expansion of the pulp mill will increase the current annual production capacity from 425,000 tonnes to 700,000 tonnes. This will make the mill one of the biggest in the world in terms of softwood sulphate pulp production. The project will also improve the energy efficiency of the pulp mill.
