Byko-Lat to expand its sawmill in Valmiera, Latvia

The Latvian company Byko-Lat will add a forth re-sawing and planning line at its factory in Valmiera, according to Lesprom Network. The planning capacity is expected to increase by about 30 per cent. The new production line will be operational during the 3Q 2015.

“The main reason for the new production line is to reduce delivery lead-times to our customers,” says Valts Kurpnieks, Managing Director of Byko‐Lat, as quoted by Lesprom Network.

The production of Byko‐Lat is sold to more than 25 countries worldwide.

Byko‐Lat is part of Norvik Timber Industries.

According to says Sampsa Auvinen, CEO of Norvik Timber Industries, there have been some structural changes during the past years in the European timber reprocessing businessl, and that’s why the company sees an opportunity in this sector.
