Voith offers improved water weight measurement

OnQ FormingSens measures the water weight in the former using high-frequency, ultra-precise microwave technology, without sources of radioactivity.Since the process influences in the former are constantly changing, the water weight should be continuously determined. Voith Paper has developed the OnQ FormingSens sensor, which measures the water weight in real time and defines an optimal water weight on a sustained basis for lasting process improvement.With multi-ply wire sections, couching is optimized by unambiguously defining the water weight for the individual plies. Radioactive sources, which are used in most handheld measurement devices, are also omitted thanks to the harmless microwave sensor system.OnQ FormingSens can be used with almost all former types and grammages. The installation positions within the former can be arbitrarily chosen as long as the expected water weight is within the measurement limits.
