Reduced paper production in Sweden

The production of paper in Sweden is lower than last year, and mass production is unchanged, according to Papernet. The export value of forest products fell during the third quarter.

It appears from the Forest Industries last quarterly report, published on Tuesday.

- Paper production in 2011 is at a level more than half a million tonnes lower than before the economic crisis and recession in 2008-2009. This represents annual production of two to three medium-sized paper machines, says Marie S Arwidson, president of Forest Industries.

The export value of forest products fell during the third quarter. Sweden's paper exports to the EU have gone back, but has increased in Asia, including China and Japan.

- Despite the current economy, the forest industry in the future and is investing heavily, particularly in environmental and energy related fields, but also in new product development, stresses Marie S Arwidson.

Investments in the pulp and paper industry has grown strongly in 2011, but decreases again 2012th Conversion is also done to the products with stable demand and improved profitability or increased flexibility in production.
