New investment US company Godfrey Forest Products is to launch a new particle board production facility in Jay, in the US state of Maine, creating some 125 new jobs.
The new factory is to be located at the premises of the Androscoggin paper mill where production activities ended in 2023 several years after an explosion at the facility, local broadcaster WMTW reported.
“Although I was deeply relieved that no one was injured, I was concerned for the livelihoods of the workers and for the future of the mill itself and for this very community,” said Maine Governor Janet Mills.
The value of the planned investment in Maine was not disclosed.
