In autumn 2019 Mr. Wolf-Christian Küspert (General Manager Gelo) officially declared the realization of his new 38.5 million Euro green-field project.
As part of the energy farm Wunsiedel a new sawmill site is built. Reason for the investment is to have raw material available for the own further processing as well as using synergies with the pellet production in Wunsiedel. Holtec will built both log handling systems – the log sorting line and the sawmill infeed.
The decisive factor for the order was Holtec’s long-term experience in log handling solutions as well as the good relationship between Gelo and Holtec. Further reasons for the investment were the decrease of emissions and the topic “sawmill 4.0”. Due to the innovative further developments of the Holtec chainless technology exactly those two issues were found there combination in an overall concept. T
he log sorting line will be put into operation in November 2020. The sawmill infeed with a capacity of up to 40 pc./min will start its production at the end of 2020.
