The Turkish Hayat Kimya Sanayi A.S. Group of Companies (part of the Hayat holding) has launched the production of paper hygiene products in the Russian Kaluga special economic zone in a test mode, according to the company's press service.
The total volume of investments amounted to 10 billion rubles (US$135,9 million).
It is planned, the new plant with the capacity of 70,000 tons of products per year will allow the company to become the largest manufacturer of sanitary and hygienic products in Russia in due course.
The company has created 365 jobs.
Metin Mete Hayat Russia’s CEO says:
"In three years we have become the leaders in the production of paper towels in Russia: our share in this segment is 37%. And in the segment of toilet paper, Hayat occupies almost 25% of the Russian market».
In 2023, the company plans to launch another line for the production of paper hygiene products with a capacity of 70,000 tons of products per year in the Kaluga zone.
As the press service said resource-saving systems will be used at the new enterprise. The paper products will be made from 100% environmentally-friendly pulp, which is sourced from commercially grown and FSC-certified trees. The natural resource conversion system (cogeneration) allows the use of natural gas in the paper production process with an efficiency of up to 80%.
The Kaluga plant became Hayat's fourth production facility in Russia. The enterprise will produce toilet paper, paper towels and napkins under the Papia and Familia brands, as well as base paper.
