Leading Russian book publishers have called on the national government to take measures to stop the ever growing prices for paper in the domestic market, which leads to their serious losses.
According to publishers’ data, coated paper this year has risen in price by 18%, while cardboard - by 30%, while there are no factors for stabilization.
One of the possible options to deal with the current situation may involve the provision of subsidies for paper producers in order to avoid a further price increases for their products.
Meanwhile, paper mills in Russia are switching to more marginal packaging production and have serious fears about the beginning of price regulation by the state.
In the meantime, prices for packaging cardboard are also growing, as the demand for it has been seriously increased due to intensification of online commerce amid the pandemic.
