Arkhangelsk PPM, one of Russia’s largest pulp and paper producers, plans to invest RUB 105 billion (US$1,4 billion) in a new cardboard production until 2027, according to recent statements, made by representatives of the company and some local media reports.

The project will create about 400 new jobs and involves building a separate production complex.

Under the terms of the project a sulphate-cardboard plant with a cardboard machine (KDM-3) with a capacity of 700,000 tons of products per year will be built.

The existing capacity of the two KDMs is over 600,000 tons per year. The new KDM-3 will be oriented towards foreign market, as by 2050, the global demand for cardboard will almost double. In five years, Arkhangelsk PPM plans to increase the annual production of pulp for cooking up to 1,7 million tons, while containerboard - up to 1,3 million tons.

Arkhangelsk PPM was founded in 1940, it is one of the European leaders in the production of containerboard and pulp.
