The Ukranian paper and cardboard sector is steadily recovering from the crisis, caused by the pandemic and its consequences, according to recent statements, made by some senior Ukranian state officials and some local media reports.
According to data of the Ukranian Association of Pulp and Paper Producers (UkrPapir) in January-February 2021, the production of paper and cardboard in Ukraine grew by 14%, compared to the same period of last year, while the growth is currently ongoing.
The production of containerboard, including fluting, grew by 15.1%, while the production of boxboard soared significantly + 48.8%.
Finally, the production of tissue paper for 2 months of 2021 increased by 2.8% compared to the same period last year, while the production of boxes, including those made of corrugated cardboard by 1% on year-on-year basis up to 57.6 million square meters.
Local analysts the Ukranian pulp and paper sector will grow this year, compared to 2020, although these growth rates will not be higher than +10%.
