Arauco inaugurates design exhibition

To celebrate the launch of its new product line Melamine Nature, Arauco Sustainable Solutions held a design contest titled "Connection Area" and inaugurated an exhibition of the designs that were submitted at Carroza, a prestigious art gallery located in Santiago, Chile.

Five of Chile’s rising architecture offices were invited to design a work area using Arauco wood products. The project was to be designed as a space for work suitable for connection to multiple networks.

The participants were Grupo Talca, Jean Petitpas, Nicolás Norero, Murua+Valenzuela Arquitectos and LyonBosch Arquitectos. This last office was awarded first place in the Connection Area contest. The project, manufactured with the company’s Faplac panels, considers one sole structure that combines a shelf for books and working material that also doubles as a screen, and a desk that is joined to a chaise, or deck chair. The structure provides the user with a somewhat enclosed area that is flexible enough for work, reading, surfing the web or resting in multiple positions.

"Connection Area" became an opportunity to reflect upon design, the use of space and its functionality, reaffirming Arauco’s commitment to national architects and designers to generate platforms for new creative processes.
