Recently Fibria launched the Forest Savings Program, in the Paraíba Valley and the Bragantina region. This is a system of incentives and financing for the planting of eucalyptus, aimed at farmers who have rural properties in the vicinity of the company’s planted areas. The model, which is an innovative option in these regions, stimulates income generation and preservation of the environment. For rural producers, it represents the guaranteed purchase of their harvest.
Farmers who are interested in participating should register with the São Paulo state government body, the CATI (Coordination of Integral Technical Assistance), or with Fibria. Company representatives will then visit the property, to perform a technical evaluation of the feasibility of planting eucalyptus and measure the area. The information is then passed on to the CATI, which will conduct a second visit, in order to carry out integrated planning for the property.
Finally, Fibria will sign a contract with the farmer and finance the area to be planted, as well as guaranteeing to purchase the eucalyptus at the end of the process, which takes an average of 7 years.
