Enerlab 2000, a Quebec company specializing in polyurethane insulation systems, will receive an investment of $500,000 over four years to pursue the development of iso-lignin, a biopolymer based on lignin, Pulp & Paper Canada reports.
According to the Quebec Minister of Forests Laurent Lessard, the iso-lignin technology is unique in the world and may be able to replace fossil fuels in the production of insulation panels.
In total, $2.5 million will be invested in the project to commercialize this technology.
