Kotkamills appoints Valmet to rebuild paper machine

Finland based Kotkamills, part of Eagle Industries, has signed a contract with Valmet for the supply of paper machine grade conversion technologies.

 

This contract is part of Kotkamills’ EUR 70 million equipment order.

 

The paper manufacturer intends to convert the existing printing paper production line to produce folding boxboard and barrier board grades. "Kotkamills is very pleased to have the know-how of Valmet's advanced coating technologies available for the important rebuild project from magazine paper to innovative packaging boards," said, Markku Hämäläinen, CEO, Kotkamills.

 

Valmet’s scope of delivery comprises different kind of coating units, new centre driven OptiReel as well as new OptiWin two-drum compact winder. In addition, it also includes modernization of dryer section and calender as well as related automation, air and chemical systems.

 

Automation delivery includes Valmet DNA machine and process control, condition monitoring and machine vision systems.

 

The rebuilt machine is scheduled to start production in the second quarter of 2016.
