Nippon Paper Industries USA announced the curtailment of No. 2 Paper Machine effective December 12, 2014. The curtailment is necessary to balance capacity with the current economic climate and slow sales of uncoated mechanical papers.

Restart of the paper machine will occur when the economic conditions improve enough to justify resumption of operations. At this time no restart date has been scheduled.

The Pulp Mills, No. 3 Paper Machine, Co-Gen Plant and other supporting operations will remain in full operation during this period. Company officials are working closely with AWPPW and City of Port Angeles leaders to identify and minimize impacts of this curtailment.

NPI USA operates one mill, Port Angeles Mill, located in Northwest Washington State.
