Mondi to close its Silicart release liner plant

Mondi recently announced plans to close down its Silicart plant in Italy which produces silicone-coated release liners. 62 employees are affected by the move.

The company will cease production operations from the end of 2015, according to Euwid Pulp and Paper. Talks with local unions about the future of the mill's 62 employees had already begun.

The company plans to centralise production capacities in its larger and more competitive plants

Mondi Silicart manufactures a wide range of silicone-coated release liners on paper substrates including clay-coated papers, glassines, supercalandered Kraft Paper, PE coated Kraft Paper, machine-glazed Kraft Paper, using solvent-free and water-based silicones.
