Unionized workers at the Tembec Temiscaming mill have rejected the employer's last offer, with an overwhelming majority of them (94 per cent) supporting a strike mandate, according to Radio Canada.
This vote demonstrates the commitment of members to act if the employer will remain "intransigent", according to the union.
The union said it would notify representatives of the Ministry of Labour this result in order to plan its next move.
Tembec’s Temiscaming site has 850 employees in production facilities for specialty cellulose, high-yield pulp, coated bleached board and chemicals, as well as a corporate office.
