Russian billionaire to invest $2 billion in giant kraft pulp plant

SVEZA Group, one of the leading players in the Russian woodworking market, owned by a Russian billionaire Alexey Mordashov, has officially announced that it will invest up to USD$2 billion in the establishment of a plant for the production of a kraft mill plant in the Russian Vologda region.

The project is expected to be established on the basis of public-private partnership.

According to Oleg Kuvshinnikov, a governor of the Vologda region, the new plant will create about 5,000 new jobs. "

At the same time Alexei Mordashov has also said that the new plant will specialize  on the production of bleached kraft pulp from softwood and hardwood . It will use the latest in eco-friendly technologies and will comply with all the Russian standards for water discharges.

Estimated production capacity of the plant will be more than a 1 million tons of bleached kraft pulp annually.
