PulPaper 2014 conference programme outlined

The PulPaper event in Helsinki, Finland, is one of the highest regarded meeting places for the global pulp and paper industry. With its world premier exhibition, the top class international conference and, for the event's 8th edition, a grand 100th anniversary celebration of PI (Paper Engineers Association) the event will gather industry professionals from about 65 different countries in Helsinki on June 3-5, 2014.

The conference programme committee is based on an international group of forest sector top specialists lead by chairman Jorma Eloranta, the previous CEO of Metso Oyj.

BioFuture for Mankind is the main theme of the PulPaper 2014 Conference where the concept of bioeconomy will be discussed from different aspects as well as resource management for a sustainable world. Another topic is how to make business from biomass and how to make new products out of forest industry byproducts. Bio refineries will also be dealt with in several presentations. The last day offers sessions on new bio based materials and will feature talks from brand owners as well as packaging producers on new material and why to choose them. An important part of the conference programme and running alongside the main conference is the 29th International Mechanical Pulping Conference (IMPC), a scientific conference sponsored by PI, TAPPI, PAPTAC, SPCI and PTF and circulating between the different continents. Lead by chairman Sari Liukkonen from VTT, Technical Research Institute of Finland, the IMPC conference programme committee has chosen 30 presentations out of the abstracts received from universities and research institutes worldwide. The presentations will cover the whole area from fundamentals and energy efficiency to new applications and innovations, as well as mill experiences.

The complete conference programme will be announced in due course and conference registration will open in September 2013.
