According to the web site Recycling Today, many European paper recycling companies have noticed stricter inspection procedures at many Chinese ports. The inspections are adding delays to shipment times.

The stricter inspections might be a response from Chinese authorities following a raid carried out by Dutch police of one of the Netherlands’ largest paper and plastics recyclers, attempting to find shipments contaminated with non-recyclable waste.

One Dutch paper recycler, specialized in the trade of recovered paper and cardboard, has now decided to cut China off as a destination, as a consequence of the frequent inspections at Chinese ports.
