Fibria inaugurates new technology center in Brazil

Fibria recently inaugurated a new Technology Center Laboratory, in Jacareí, Brazil.

The new installations are the fruit of investment amounting to around R$ 8 million over the last couple of years. Work in the laboratory will be carried out by both company professionals and partners.

According to general manager Fernando Bertolucci, the lab has modern new Biotechnology and Biorefining equipment. “Fibria is one of the companies in the sector that constantly and consistently invests in technology and research: innovation is one of our chief strengths”, he added, highlighting the importance of the new undertaking.

Fibria’s Technology Center is a corporate department that is active at all the company’s units. It now has two laboratories in operation: one in Jacareí (SP) and the other in Aracruz (ES), for conducting research on the production of superior clones (eucalyptus seedlings), the identification of advanced forest management techniques and the development of new products, for application in the planted forests where the company operates and pulp of the highest quality, for export to a variety of countries in all the world’s continents.

The Jacareí laboratory is installed near one of the company’s mills and has an area of roughly 700 m2, where studies in biotechnology and biorefining will be carried out in their own specific areas.
