The Zhydachiv Pulp and Paper Plant in Ukraine has stopped all newsmill production. The constant price increases on wood and tariffs on cargo transportation have made it unprofitable to continue to run the mill, according to Interfax. The Zhydachiv Pulp and Paper Plant in the Lviv region is a monopoly producer of newsprint. The employees have been drastically reduced as a result of the closure of both a woodpulp plant and a chemical and thermomechanical pulp plant, involved in the newsprint production.
The mill is a major employee in the town of Zhydachiv and currently employs over 1,000 people.
