Honeywell today announced that it has been selected by Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe GmbH to replace its current quality control system (QCS) with Experion MX. As a result, the manufacturer of coated papers, communication papers, photo-sensitive materials and wood-free paper expects to significantly improve quality control in machine direction (MD) and cross direction (CD) variations. This will allow production targets to be set with greater accuracy, helping to reduce production losses at its production facility in Bielefeld, Germany.
Experion MX is an integrated quality control and process knowledge system that provides superior visibility into the papermaking process, while simplifying operational efforts and improving the return on investment of raw materials. It contains the fastest scanner available today, helping operators to measure quality consistency with a high degree of accuracy and reduce losses when implementing changes to the grade of paper being produced at the facility.
“We’ve used Honeywell technology to help with quality control since 1986. For us, the company was the natural choice when selecting the right upgrade to our current legacy system,” said Dr. Becker, Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe GmbH.
“The new Experion MX QCS will give us greater control over our product quality as we’ll be able to measure and react both more quickly and with greater efficiency on cost and quality than we thought was possible before,” said J. Heitland, Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe GmbH.
“Advanced quality control and measurements are crucial to creating profit within the paper-making industry,” said Marko Jämsén, leader of Honeywell Process Solutions’ EMEA pulp, paper and printing business. “Using the latest technology to improve cost margins and process efficiency can help companies outperform their competitors; a critical factor in today’s tough economic climate.”
