A partnership between Inflor and the São Paulo State Faculty of Technology (Fatec), in the city of Pompeia, has enabled students of the Technology Course in Precision Farming Mechanization to learn hands-on solutions that contribute to the management of the Agribusiness industry. The partnership is part of an Inflor pilot project as a strategy to strengthen the company’s relationship with the academia.
Fatec Pompeia started using the INFLOR GISagri system in the students’ learning disciplines of Precision Farming Laboratory, Fundamentals of GIS and Remote Sensing. Through this system, teachers can provide students with resources as thematic maps of rural properties, documenting occurrences and events, routing usage and creating guided paths in properties as well as using image processing functions directly on mosaics.
Guilherme Brunoro, Marketing and Ecosystems Manager at INFLOR explained the partnership with Fatec helps in bringing the company closer to academia. “It is very important for INFLOR that our systems become known by future professionals who are going to enter the agroforestry market. When entering the market, these professionals will already be familiar with the management solutions offered by the company,” Brunoro said.
The coordinator of the Precision Agriculture Mechanization Technology Course, Susi Meire M. Leite, points out the partnership between INFLOR and Fatec Pompeia will provide more tools for the application of advanced technologies in the efficient management of rural properties. “INFLOR is a specialized company in managing biological assets around the world with simple solutions for different areas of the agribusiness industry,” she also adds these tools could be used in a variety of disciplines and academic work.
The degree in Precision Farming Mechanization Technology from Fatec Pompeia is unique in Latin America. Founded in 2013, it lasts three years and offers 80 placements divided in two groups of 40 annually. The professional taking this course is capable to work for companies operating in the agribusiness industry using machinery, supplies, computer equipment and services in farming.The course has also a distinctive internship program.
“The partnership with INFLOR will create internship opportunities, research projects and access to the GISAgri and MosaicosWEB platforms in both the Precision Farming Mechanization and Big Data in Agribusiness courses.”, said Susi Leite. The latter is new in Fatec and aims to train professionals to handle extensive volumes of data in a fast and efficient manner while competently interpret them in order to gain important knowledge in agribusiness development. Soon, the INFLOR systems will also be available to students of this new course.
The Marketing and Ecosystem Manager at INFLOR explains that, as with the case of the partnership with Fatec Pompeia, a similar project is underway with the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture in the University of São Paulo (Esalq / USP). The partnership with Esalq will be established for the Forestry Course and it is expected to be signed by the end of the first half of 2017.
