Segezha Group to cut 350 jobs at its Novoeniseysk sawmill

Segezha Group is reducing its staff at the Novoeniseysky Wood-Chemical Complex in Lesosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, affecting 350 out of 1,000 employees, Lesprom reports.

According to Lesprom, the forest sector in Krasnoyarsk Krai has faced a structural crisis since 2022. “Attempts to redirect exports to Asia have faced challenges, including price pressure from Chinese buyers and severe congestion on the Russian Railways’ Eastern route”. Rising logistics costs and transport delays continue to erode profitability, according to Lesprom citing the site Dela.

Segezha Group’s financial results for the first half of 2025 reflect this pressure.

Lumber sales declined by 6% to 1.0 million m3, with China accounting for 78% of the total volume.

Segezha Group is the largest forest products producer in European Russia.
