Toscotec started up the PM3 after the complete rebuild of the drying section at the Papeterie Le Bourray mill. This repeat order follows the successful PM4 rebuild in 2020 – where a state-of-the-art forming section helped the mill achieve its target.

This pivotal project supports the mill in achieving energy consumption reduction, marking a tangible commitment to a greener future. This aligns with the company’s sustainability objectives, by fostering a local circular economy and transforming recycled wastepaper into regenerative resources through a greener manufacturing process.

A tailor-made solution

Toscotec delivered a custom rebuild and upgrade of the existing machine, focusing on a significant optimization of its efficiency to produce facial, toilet, napkin, and towel paper. Toscotec’s efforts focused on modernizing the drying section with advanced technology, including primarily the replacement of the cast iron Yankee Dryer with a new-generation Steel Yankee TT SYD-12 FT, new high-efficiency hybrid gas-fired hoods, and a new steam and condensate system. This strategic enhancement reduces energy consumption while maintaining a consistent production capacity vital to the customer’s success. To ensure the plant reaches its full potential, Toscotec is providing a comprehensive service package, including supervision, babysitting, and training to complete the on-site assistance.

Alessandro Mennucci, CEO at Toscotec, says: “We are proud to partner with Papeterie Le Bourray on this strategic project. By implementing our latest technology, we have delivered a tailor-made solution that highlights the value of long-term cooperation and underscores our shared commitment to reaching sustainable goals and fostering decarbonization in the tissue industry.”

François Bourdin, General Director at Papeterie Le Bourray, states: “At Papeterie Le Bourray, we continue to maintain a strong level of investment year after year. However, the project carried out with Toscotec falls outside our recurring investment budget, which clearly reflects its strategic importance for our paper mill. This project is fully aligned with our commitment to sustainable performance. It will help reduce our energy consumption and carbon footprint while ensuring the quality of our products and strengthening our competitiveness. We also have a responsibility to maintain and modernize our manufacturing infrastructure order to secure the long-term sustainability of our operations and continue meeting our customers’ expectations over time.”

A shared vision for innovation

With PM3 in full operation, Papeterie Le Bourray is positioned to meet the evolving demands of the tissue market – while lowering its carbon footprint. This project underscores Toscotec’s ability to deliver high-impact, custom-engineered solutions that improve existing assets.
