Georgia-Pacific breaks ground for warehouse expansion

In a Lindkedin post, a Georgia-Pacific representative announces that the company has broken ground on Phase 2 of its $83 million Warehouse Expansion at Palatka mill in Florida, a project designed to enhance product storage and enable more efficient mixed‑load shipments to retailers.

The new facility will incorporate automated guided vehicles and other advanced technology designed to improve safety and efficiency at the mill's loading docks.

Phase 1 is complete with a new 36‑acre trailer yard, space for 574 trailers, a new inspection station, and a dedicated entrance on County Road 216 to improve traffic flow.

“Today, we begin construction on a 400,000‑square‑foot, state‑of‑the‑art warehouse that will connect to the existing facility, incorporate automated guided vehicles, and enhance dock safety through new technology. The project is expected to take about one year to complete”, the statement reads.

The Palatka mill is Putnam County's largest private employer.
