Romanian cardboard packaging producer eyes higher sales, exports

Sales expected to rise Romanian cardboard packaging specialist Siba Packaging Srl is aiming to increase its production this year with the use of new machinery purchased in 2023 for the company’s plant in the country’s northern part. 

Currently, the Romanian firm, which also uses the name SibaPack, makes between 25 and 30 million cardboard cups per year, Siko Janos, the chief executive of Siba Packaging, told local news site TransilvaniaBusiness.ro in an interview.

Last year, the Romanian company spent about €1 million to purchase new machines for its factory, and ramp up its manufacturing capacities, accoeding to Janos. 

“We send a large part of our production to the Bucharest area, to which are added exports to countries from the European Union: Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary,” he said, adding that it is also “possible that Germany will follow” in 2024.
