Brazil’s exports of wood-based products rose 5.2% in December

In December 2018, Brazilian exports of wood-based products (except pulp and paper) increased 5.2% in value compared to December 2017, according to ITTO.

 

Pine sawnwood export values increased by 9% year-on-year and export volumes grew almost 10% over the same period from 201,000 cubic metres to 220,600 cubic metres.

 

Tropical sawnwood export volumes increased by 23% from 42,700 cubic metres in December 2017 to 52,500 cubic metres in December 2018, at the same time export values also rose 8%.

 

Export values for wooden furniture rose from $43.9 million in December 2017 to $50.5 million in December 2018, a 15% rise.
