Uzbekistan launches one of largest paper productions in Central Asia

The only production of various types of paper in Central Asia was launched in Samarkand region of Uzbekistan several days ago, according to representatives of the investor and some local media reports.

The new production is located in the Narpay district of the Samarkand region, one of the most economically developed regions of Uzbekistan and will supply its output both to domestic and foreign markets.

The cost of the project, which is implemented by NBA Allianz enterprise is estimated at US$13 million, of which US$5.5 million is foreign direct investment. This project, which is also part of the localization program for the production of imported products, which is currently implemented by the Uzbek government is designed to produce 30,000 tonnes of various export-oriented types of cardboard per year. Of these, products for US$5 million will be sent for exports.

As a result of the project, 80 new jobs were created. In Q1 2023, the company plans to expand its activities and create additional 70 new jobs.
