The pandemic and associated with it negative consequences have led to a significant growth of the demand for paper in Russia, according to recent statements, made by some local analysts in the field of paper and Russian media reports.

The biggest growth was observed in the St. Petersburg, one of Russia’s centers of paper and timber production, which paper output this year grew by about 8% year-on-year basis.

In addition to domestic market, an interest of some Russian paper producers may be related with the possible supplies of their products to foreign market, particularly the market of Asia.

In contrast to some previous years, when most of Russian trade were related with Western customers, in recent years the situation has changed, while particular hopes of Russian timber holdings and paper manufacturers could be put on the supplies of their products to the market of China.
