A new large-scale paper factory will soon be built in the Russian Far East and specialize on the production of paper for the needs of domestic book publishers, according to recent statements, made by Svetlana Orlova, an auditor of the Russian Accounts Chamber at the Eastern Economic Forum, one of Russia’s most important annual business events, which takes place these days in the Russian Far East.

As Orlova said in an interview with the Russian Rossysikaya Gazeta business paper, the establishment of the new factory will be part of a recent order, given to the national government by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to ban exports of unprocessed or roughly processed timber with the aim of its processing within the territory of the country.

In general, the Russian government considers the domestic paper sector as one of the drivers for the development of the Far East in years to come, which may lead to building of other paper factories within the territory of the region already in the near future.
