Russia has achieved big success in regard of waste paper recycling in recent years, according to recent statements, made by representatives of some leading local waste paper recyclers and processors as well as local media reports.
According to data of analysts of the Russian Expert business paper, over the last 20 years the volume of waste paper, which is sent for recycling in Russia has grown from 10% to 63% of the overall volume of waste paper, which is annually accumulated within the territory of Russia.
One of the examples of this is the Nizhny Novgorod region, one of the major regions of Russia, located on the Volga river, where a kind of cluster of cyclic paper production has been formed in recent years. Among the participants of the cluster are local residents, collectors, sorters and recyclers of waste paper.
As part of state plans is establishing similar clusters in other regions of Russia. In order to stimulate this, the government, from its side, plans to create clear rules for collecting environmental payments from enterprises and their further use to finance the sorting and processing of secondary raw materials within the territory of Russia.
