Russian Volga to expand its flagship paper mill in Nizhny Novgorod region

JSC Volga, one of Russia’s largest paper producers, plans to expand its flagship paper mill in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

 

The project implies the creation of a workshop for the production of semi-finished products from chemical-thermomechanical pulp at the existing industrial site in Balakhna, paying a particular focus to newsprint. As part of the company’s plans, the capacity of the new production will reach 180 tons per day.

 

Total cost of the project is estimated at almost 2 billion rubles. The project will be implemented in two stages, the first of which involves the increase of production up to 276,000 tonnes per year, while the second one the increase of capacities by additional 49,000 tonnes annually. As a result of the project, over 200 jobs will be created.

 

So far, construction works has begun, while as part of the plans of the investor is the attraction of a co-investor to the project.
