Evgeny Skigin, a well-known Russian businessman from St. Petersburg plans to establish a large-scale enterprise for the production of cellulose from bast crops in Russia, within the territory of the Penza region, according to some sources close to the businessman and local media reports.
For this purpose, the businessman plans to sign a concession agreement with the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
It is planned, direct implementation of the project will be carried out by Skigin’s subsidiary - Konoplex group of companies
The volume of investments in the project estimated at RUB 2 billion (US$30 million). Its payback period of will be15 years, while the duration of the concession agreement - 49 years.
The capacity of the new production will reach 4,000 tonnes of pulp per year with the possibility of a further expansion. Most of the future output will be supplied to domestic market.
