European importers of thermal paper originating in Korea will have to pay anti-dumping duties in the future. The European Comission imposed a 15.8 per cent duty on certain grades, Euwid reports.

The affected thermal paper is specialty paper that is used in numerous applications, including labels for packaging, admission tickets and parking tickets. This decision is the result of anti-dumping investigations launched by the Commission on 10 October 2019 in response to a complaint filed by the European Thermal Paper Association (ETPA) on 26 August 2019.

The investigation focused on thermal paper weighing more than 65 g/m² which is sold on rolls of a width of 20 cm or more that weigh 50 kg or more and have a diameter of 40 cm or more (known as jumbo rolls) originating in the Republic of Korea.

The thermal paper association ETPA welcomed the European Commission's decision.
