Rigoberto Rojo, manager of ARAUCO’s forestry subsidiary Bosques Arauco, inaugurated the first of many Open House meetings to be held in the southern area of Chile’s Bío Bío Region. This inaugural meeting took place on August 10, and was attended by about 40 workers of Bosques Arauco, among assistant managers, area directors, supervisors and forest rangers.
During the meeting participants received information on the objectives pursued by these Open House meetings, among which are to create a space for participation and dialog between company members and the community. The meeting also served to discuss ARAUCO’s motivations to undergo the FSC Certification Process, which began in May 2009.
Open Houses will be held in communes Santa Juana, Collipulli, Angol, Pidima, Curanilahue, Los Álamos, Lebu, Cañete, Tirúa, Contulmo, Ercilla, Arauco, and Lota. In addition, Internal Meetings will be held with workers of service-providing businesses at nurseries Las Cruces, Posada and forestry camps Santa Juana, Santa Amelia and Baltimore
