Arauco confirmed its adherence to the Global Compact Network, reinforcing its corporate commitment to this social responsibility initiative launched by the United Nations. The document was signed by Charles Kimber, Arauco's Corporate Affairs and Marketing Director and Margarita Ducci, Global Compact Executive Secretary in Chile, operating under the Andrés Bello University.
"Our commitment to the United Nations Global Compact responds to our sustainability strategy which is based on the certainty that a responsible company, while maximizing value generation for its shareholders, must also generate value for people and their communities and protect the environment. In this sense, we find that incorporating the Global Compact and its principles into Arauco's strategy, its culture and daily activities, is essential, as well as strongly maintaining this commitment before our workers, our partners, customers and consumers".
This signature ratifies the company’s commitment to advance towards social responsibility and promote the ten principles that guide this initiative at the global level.
Margarita Ducci, the Global Compact Executive Secretary in Chile, said that "Arauco is an important company because of its contribution to the country and to the communities where it conducts its businesses; and even more now, since it is leading the way for many public and private businesses that today should include social responsibility in their corporate strategy".
The company’s incorporation into the Global Compact confirms the company as a responsible organization. The adoption of the Compact’s ten universal principles relating to labor regulations, human rights, anti-corruption and the environment allow the company to build a deeper relationship with its surroundings.
