SCA plant produces with renewable energy

The site in Oława, Poland, is SCA’s first production facility for personal care products in Europe to manufacture products with renewable energy only. The Oława factory, built in 1999, delivers TENA incontinence care products, and Libero as well as private label baby diapers.

All electricity consumed in the Oława plant now comes from a green resource: The Suwałki Wind Park, which is located in the windy North-East of Poland, where there are favorable conditions for wind farms.

Senior Purchaser Marta Sokalska underlines: "A certificate confirms that the energy we consume comes from 100% renewable resources."

"Not only does green electricity add to our environmental targets, it is also cost-effective and beneficial for the business", explains Oława plant manager Marcel van den Hurk. "We are convinced that initiatives like ours add value for our customers and consumers and demonstrate that c/o life more than a buzz word, it is the way we work at SCA."

The environmental work at SCA’s business group for personal care products is based on a life cycle approach including what we source, how we produce and what we finally deliver to our consumer and customers.

Clean production includes an efficient use of resources and continuous reduction of energy and waste. And another way of creating improved environmental performance in our factories is to replace fossil energy with HYPERLINK "/en/Pages/Glossary/Renewables/"renewable.
