New President appointed at Careo Sas

Stéphane Thiollier has been appointed President of Careo SAS and Amministratore Delegate of Careo S.r.l, it’s parent company in Italy.

Careo is a company newly set up since the merger of the recycled cartonboard business of the Canadian group Cascades and Italian company Reno de Medici. Careo is shared 70% by Reno de Medici and 30% by Cascades. The company has the responsibility for the sales network, marketing and distribution for all products made within Cascades and Reno de Medici’s mills for Europe (West and East), middle-Africa and Asia.

Stéphane Thiollier (ESC, INSEAD), 40 years old, has been working in the cartonboard industry for 16 years. He started his career working for the first cartonboard producer in Europe having direct responsibility for sales and marketing.

In 1999, he joined the Canadian group Cascades as Managing Director Sales & Marketing for it’s 4 European mills of folding boxboard. There, he set up a major restructuring program for the sales organization and changed it’s strategy on developing business in Central and Eastern Europe, North and South west Asia and refocused it’s position on the African and Middle Eastern markets.

He was appointed Vice-President & Managing Director in January 2003 and he took part in the executive committee of the Canadian parent company, Cascades inc., being the only non-canadian member.

In a particularly difficult climate, he was actively involved in the transaction which later concluded in the merger of Cascades and Reno de Medici and saw the newly established group transported from 6th to 2nd place in Europe.

Moreover, Stéphane Thiollier has been taking part in many different professional national and international associations : President of Pro Carton France since 2001, Vice-President of Pro Carton International since 2005, Vice-President of Procelpac since 2003 and a member of the executive committee of Cepi Cartonboard since 2003. Last but not least, he has been the special advisor for foreign trade for France since 2005.
