The Myllykoski Summit is taking place this September is now in its fifth year. The Finnish printing paper manufacturer has succeeded in establishing with the SUMMIT a highly reputable forum within the print industry where intensive dialogue can take place between customers and experts. Out of all of the topics discussed in the last few years, one question in particular has been debated again and again: what role does print play in the media mix of the future? That is reason enough to explore answers to it at this year’s summit, where the motto is “Paper – The King of Media”.
A number of international speakers are lined up for the event including Hanna Pihkola from the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, who will be talking about maintaining ecological equilibrium in the print media. Her analysis proves: the general opinion that print media is environmentally suboptimal is short-sighted. Jacek Utko, designer at Bonnier Business Press Int., will demonstrate in his talk “How design can save print media” just how important target-group design and vision are for newspaper publishers. Jacek has redesigned newspapers from all over the world and succeeded in increasing their circulation by up to 100%.
The viewpoint of the publisher – above all concerning the trends in advertising – will be presented by Dr. Adrian Weser from the Bauer Media Group. Dr. Bauer is also spokesperson for the media research and training teams of the VDZ - an organization of German magazine publishers. Well-known media expert Prof. Dr. Jo Groebel will be holding up a mirror to the industry and showing which challenges the printing sector can, and must, actively create. Hoslo Jiwa, founder of Green Life CSR, will be talking about sustainable company structures. These are becoming increasingly important and are a component of one of the approaches towards being truly environmentally successful on a global level.
