South African pulp, paper producer to invest $948M

Sappi Limited, South African specialist in a dissolving wood pulp, specialities and packaging papers, graphic papers and biomaterials, has vowed to invest some R14 bil-lion (US$948 million) to raise the production capacities of its plants in the Republic of South Africa.

Under the plan, the funds are to be allocated to a number of produc-tion facilities across the RSA. In addition to this, Sappi Limited aims to spend some R7.7 billion (US$521 million) to upgrade its Saiccor mill in Umkomaas, in the country’s southern part, according to the information obtained by local news site AllAfrica.com.
