Polish paper plant to be re-launched this year

Polish paper producer Apis has completed its project to modernise the plant in Szczecin, in the country’s north-western region of Western Pomerania.

Under the plan, the firm is to re-launch production at the facility which was shut down in 2007. The investment is worth more than PLN 7 million ($2 million), reports local news site Portalsamorzadowy.pl.

Production at the plant is to begin in autumn 2015, according to the company. The production facility will be operated by a workforce of close to 100 employees. Apis specialises in the manufacturing of tissue paper.

The latest project was carried out with the use of funds obtained from the Joint European Support for Sustainable Investment In City Areas (JESSICA) programme. The initiative is jointly developed by the European Commision and the European Investment Bank which provided more than PLN 4.5 million ($1.3 million).
