German-Polish consortium to invest $153M in new hygienic paper plant

A German-Polish consortium has unveiled plans to launch a new hygienic paper production facility in Otmuchów, in Poland’s south-western part. The investment is estimated to be worth some PLN 560 million ($153 million).

The manufacturing project is expected to create about 300 new jobs in Otmuchów, reports local broadcaster Radio Opole. The plant will make a wide range of hygienic paper products, including soft packed tissues and toilet tissue.

Under the plan, the unnamed investors will locate the factory on the site previously occupied by Otmuchów’s sugar refinery. Local authorities are currently discussing the finalisation of the investment. Currently, the investors are completing the required project documentation and they are in the process of obtaining the necessary permissions to launch the project.

Construction works on the site are expected to be launched in January 2016.
