APP subsidiary installs solar panels at Suzou mill in China

Asia Pulp & Paper Group’s (APP) subsidiary Gold HongYe Paper Group has completed installation of solar panels at its mill in Suzou, China. The solar project is one of the world’s largest rooftop solar installations, according to the company.

The panels have been installed across 12 production buildings, warehouses and administrative buildings of the mill and have the capacity to produce approximately 20MW solar power.

“Investment in renewable energy in China continues apace and we are proud to be a part of growth in the sector. Our rooftops are helping to reduce the country’s carbon emissions while at the same time supplying power to the local community,” said Madam Zhai, Deputy CEO at APP China.

Gold HongYe Paper Group operates four papermaking mills and sixteen processing plants across China. The company produces over 500,000 tonnes of base paper and 600,000 tonnes of finished goods under the Virjoy, Breeze and Zhen Zhen brands.
