Metsä Group's parent company Metsäliitto Cooperative agreed on 13 November 2014 on the sale of the fixed assets and real estate used by the Kaskinen upgrading unit and the remaining Metsä Wood sawn timber upgrading (impregnated wood) business in Finland to Aureskosken Jalostetehdas Oy.
In connection with this, the ThermoWood operations in Kaskinen will be further integrated into Metsä Wood’s timber business. Moreover, the buyer and seller have come to an agreement on commercial cooperation in the provision of sawn timber and energy. The seven employees of Kolho will transfer to the buyer as existing employees.
The sales are estimated to be completed by the end of 2014. The sales have no impact on Metsä Wood’s upgrading units in either France or the United Kingdom, nor will it have any appreciable effect on Metsä Wood's result.
