Sun Paper Group, a paper manufacturer based in China, has appointed Minerals Technologies to install NewYield Integrated Process Technology at its pulp and paper facility in Shandong Province.

The NewYield process technology coverts paper and pulp mill waste stream into a functional pigment for filling paper. The new technology will enable Sun Paper to reduce cost associated with landfill disposal.

Joseph C. Muscari, CEO at Minerals Technologies, said: “This technology provides papermakers with both cost savings and reduced environmental impact, while at the same time providing them with a filler pigment for their paper."

He added: "We are extremely pleased to be working with such a fine papermaker as the Sun Paper Group, which is the largest privately owned paper business in China, to deploy our NewYield technology at their papermaking operations in Shandong Province."

Sun Paper’s Shandong Province facility will initiate operations in the third quarter of 2015. The facility will produce 60,000 tonnes of filler pigment from waste stream.
